Does leading at the top have to be lonely?
How can I explore leading differently with women in similar positions?
How do other women lead in my position?
How can I find a group of like-minded women to explore my challenges in a confidential and safe way?
How can I justify spending time talking to other women in similar positions?
These are questions that many of us, who have been or are Leading Women (CEOs, Executive Directors, Managing Directors, Heads of large teams etc) of social change organisations, are asking ourselves.
We know instinctively that it doesn’t have to be lonely at the top despite what those around us might be telling us. We wonder what other beliefs are holding us back and keep us from owning our power.
We instinctively know that we want to co-create and co-lead and define what that means to us.
And yet, the structures in which we find ourselves are not facilitating this. We know how much we could benefit if we were able to learn together, and yet, the social change sector is challenged by a culture of competition, hierarchy and exclusion.
Above all we are plagued by a sense of constant stress and not enough time – a vicious cycle, because instinctively we know that if we made time to stop, reflect and learn, we would be able to stop the hamster wheel and create the change we want to see.

“This coaching circle has been an amazing space for me. I have watched myself from when I started and today – when I watched the last recording, I saw a very different person. I saw a kinder, more patient, more accommodating, more listening and more compassionate person with myself and with those around me. I think I did find my fierce, and I found that little girl I thought I had lost. She was not lost at all! – she was there waiting to be found! And I want to thank you.
You have created a great space for women leaders who are struggling on so many levels, at the start of the circle when we all cried mine were tears of misery and long suffering- but today as we closed the session, I shed tear or two from a place of deep gratitude and joy! - Gratitude because you helped me find the tools within me to unleash my fierce and joy to know that my exists!”
