Step Into Your Power

What does it mean ‘to step into your power’?

I have been reflecting on this a lot as I have just announced my new group coaching course called ‘Step into Your Power’.

When we step into our power, we transform from one sense of self to another. We realise that the power we so wish we had is already within us. Our thought patterns resulting from years of social conditioning tell us otherwise.

But how do we change this?

From my own experience and from my coaching work with clients, creating space to grow our awareness is key. We can create distance between our thoughts and our sense of being. Through silence and observation, we can see that our mind produces thoughts, but we are not our thoughts. Space helps us to learn more about these thoughts and their origins, which are often beliefs.

When we understand the root of those beliefs, we open up the opportunity for us to consciously decide whether those beliefs are serving us or not. This means us asking: ‘do my belief patterns encourage me to feel powerful or do they keep me small?’

We know the answer within us. There is a deep sense we are listening for. Our authentic power. It’s not so much about thinking logically, but intuitively trusting what feels right. When we find something that feels wrong, we can look at it and ask ourselves: ‘How would it feel, if it felt right?’ To allow our power to flourish, we can then follow our intuition and allow whatever shift is required in our belief patterns.

In my book ‘Fears to Fierce’ I give the example of me not believing that I was creative. It was something I believed so much that I thought that I am inherently not creative. I didn’t even realise that it was a belief. I thought it was a fact. It was when I started to consciously grow my sense of awareness and observe more, that I realised this was a belief. Once I looked at it, I knew that it was simply not true and that it was most certainly not serving me anymore. I decided to change that belief, and with it, I changed profoundly how I thought about my capabilities and as a result what I allowed myself to do and create.

This work is not easy. It means we need to dig deep and go into murky waters. But when we do, the rewards are bountiful. For every limiting belief you release, you step further into your power. Some steps feel bigger than others. It doesn’t matter. Stepping into Your Power is an unleashing of the genius within you. A deep allowing of all that wants to emerge from deep within you. It can be profound and it can also just be fun. It can mean that you finally sign up for that TEDx talk you have been wanting to do, or it can mean that you wear an outrageously over the top outfit to an event. It can mean anything as long as it means something to your deep sense of being alive. Your power.

One of my favourite books of all times is Micheal Meade’s The Genius Myth. In it, Michael talks about our authentic power and how we all, inherently, have it within us. He explains that the word ‘authentic’ originates from the Greek root of author and enticos which means essence. So, our authentic power needs us to author its essence.

I love this notion and it fits beautifully with the process of stepping into your power – we are authoring our essence as we step into our power! We shed limiting beliefs and imposed behaviour patterns. We author our essence. And then one day we look back and we see that our whole sense of self has shifted. We now have a different operating system; one that is in tune with our deep inner power.

My course is open for enrolment now. It will guide you through 7 Steps of Power. If you would like to discuss the course with me, please book an appointment.
